Ashley Howard is a British voice, text and accent coach based in Buckinghamshire, UK. His career started as an actor, musician, writer and director, before graduating with distinction in MA Voice Studies from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2006. Ashley has since taught at many UK drama schools, including East 15 Acting School, Italia Conti, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and the Oxford School of Drama, where he continues to teach under the mentorship of their head of voice and senior Designated Linklater Teacher Joanna Weir-Ousten. Ashley was part of the first UK based Linklater teacher training, where he was designated in 2011. Ashley went straight on to do a one-year mentorship under Jeanette Nelson, head of voice at the Royal National Theatre.
Ashley has coached a number of productions including Machinal Royal Court and Pegasus Theatre (Oxford) dir. Robin Belfield; Serious Money Royal Court and Pegasus Theatre (Oxford) dir. Jessica Swale;The Long Goodbye and Suddenly Last Summer Hampstead Theatre dir. Naomi Jones; Fen Finborough Theatre dir. Ria Parry; Terrorism Hampstead Theatre dir. Simon Godwin; A Midsummer Nights Dream Blenheim Palace (outdoor production) dir. Daniel Goldman; Twelfth Night Drill Hall and Chipping Norton Theatre dir. George Peck; Three Sisters Oxford School of Drama dir. Gareth Machin; Touched BAC (London) dir. Richard Beecham. Ashley has also led a number of voice and text workshops in the UK and abroad, namely Sweden.
In addition, Ashley has led numerous workshops at a variety of universities and schools, both for students and teachers. He has a very successful private practice where he coaches individuals from both the private and public sector, including those in media, government, law, academia, medicine, advertising, marketing and consultancy. These include individuals from companies such as: SKY, HSBC, Barclays Bank, BT, the BBC and The Foundation for Law, Justice and Society. He has worked in partnership with Park Sims Associates and Flying Fish Consulting on various in-house courses for Senior Executives from Speedo and Welcome Break / Days Inn. As part of his private practice, he also runs a very effective and thriving Accent Reduction service both in England and globally via Skype.
