CONNECT:

My training in voice became a central part of my life after many workshops with Lorna Marshall between 1999 and 2007. Lorna pointed me towards the MA Voice Studies at Central School of Speech & Drama, London. I graduated in 2003 with a dissertation on the integration of Lorna Marshall's movement approach with practical voice.

My introduction to Linklater voice was through an audio cassette that I bought from the UK National Theatre bookshop. This included a warm up that opened a doorway into the practice. I first met Kristin in 2002 at the Giving Voice Festival in Aberystwyth, Wales. After following workshops with Kristin there, and instigating one that she shared with Lorna Marshall in Utrecht, NL, in 2006, Kristin invited me to train as a teacher.

I completed my designation training in Germany in 2010.

My recent professional developement has been in education. I completed a Masters degree in 2021 with a dissertation, "Our Dark Materials: How can actor trainers encourage and safeguard student actors in going to emotional extremes when the play requires it?"

From 2009 to 2016, I led actors warm ups at Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Swan Theatre and Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-on-Avon.

Since 2009, I teach practical voice, voice & text, pedagogy and research methods on BA Acting, MA/MFA Acting and MA/MFA Professional Voice Practice at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
