Warren Chu


Warren is a Designated Linklater Voice Teacher (DLT) and Meisner Certified Acting Teacher (MCT) who teaches at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, People’s Republic of China, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A specialist in teaching Linklater Voice Work and the Meisner Acting Technique, he is the first and only teacher in the world who is able to teach both techniques in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. He is also the first and only DLT based in the People’s Republic of China.

He is now trailblazing his own unique combination, The Chu Voice and Acting Technique, of these two powerful techniques as a dual Linklater-Meisner teacher whilst incorporating elements of the Chekhov Acting Technique. He is pioneering this approach in China.

Warren has extensive experience in coaching presentation and interview skills to clients of all ages.

Warren received his MFA in Voice Studies in 2018 from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, UK. He received his MA in Film and Television Studies in 2014 and BA in Drama in 2013, both from the University of Bristol, UK.

Before Shanghai Theatre Academy, he has taught voice at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Yellow Earth Academy in London, the Hong Kong Academy For Performing Arts in Hong Kong, and East 15 in Essex.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing computer games and writing mini-plays.
