The 30-hour workshop runs 7 hours a day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday - and Saturday morning. Thursday is a day off for sight-seeing or rest.
This workshop focuses on the function of the head, neck, jaw, tongue relationship in freeing the mid-range of the speaking voice. We explore specialized exercises to re-educate the responses between breath and sinus resonators, employing delicate movements and imagery to release the openness and expressivity of the middle of the speaking voice. The voice is experienced as breath and bone. This work is very useful for singers as it re-directs impulses from the throat to the breath and re-educates the tongue muscles out of unnecessary efforts to support the voice and into their true actions in lively articulation.
Text work: The transparency of the mid-voice is one of the keys to open communication. We explore devices such as speaking with the tongue outside the mouth, whispering, and speaking text on vowels only to continue the re-conditioning of voice and speech from a head/brain-centred experience to an embodied, sensory experience. This workshop is very voice concentrated and entails a great deal of individual attention.
