Poetry week...

We coined the phrase "discombobulate your prosody" to describe the aim of this poetry week. We invited John Donne, Keats, Byron, Emily Dickinson, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Stevie Smith and others in to disturb our emotional and rhythmic certitudes.  What an intrepid and adventurous group! Choral speaking, individual speaking  -  such changes and openings! I send this group off with Lucille Clifton's Blessing the Boats:

may the tide
that is entering even now
the lip of our understanding
carry you out
beyond the face of fear
may you kiss
the wind then turn from it
certain that it will
love your back may you
open your eyes to water
water waving forever
and may you in your innocence
sail through this to that
