About Linklater Voice

Linklater Voice takes you through a series of step-by-step practical exercises that include relaxation, awareness of breathing, the experience of voice vibrating in the body, how to open the throat, the development of resonance and range, and the articulating activity of lips and tongue. As you awaken your voice consciousness you will discover the expressive potential of the human voice and release your own eloquence.

This is primarily speaking voice work - but the singing voice also benefits enormously from the focus on free breathing, resonance and the release of tongue and jaw tension.

We use our voices all day long: in the home, the workplace, outdoors, for fun and for profit. The voice is deeply personal and Linklater workshops offer ways to free the voice from inhibitory tensions that may have become habits of constriction that limit the range and pleasure of verbal communication.

These workshops are open to people from all walks of life whether they are involved in professional performance in theatre, business, legal affairs, story-telling, the ministry, social action, poetry, song or day-to-day life.

Designated Linklater Teachers who co-teach with Kristin Linklater have undergone her lengthy and rigorous teacher training programme and have many years of teaching experience behind them.

If you’re holding your breath in any way, part of you is absent.
