Valerie Madden


Valerie Madden was designated as a Linklater voice teacher in 2019.  She is Adjunct Faculty at Emerson College, an actor, and theatre educator.  She currently teaches voice and text at Emerson. She taught at Shakespeare & Company, where she directed over a dozen shows for their education department. She has also taught for Actor's Shakespeare Project, CityStage and the Merrimack Repertory Theater. Madden is a proud member of SAG AFTRA and AEA.

In 2016 Madden worked as a facilitator for Anna Deavere Smith's "Notes from the Field: Doing Time In Education" at the American Repertory Theater. During the show's run she engaged with audience members in conversations about race, privilege, inequality and the school to prison pipeline.

Madden earned her MA in Theatre Education from Emerson in 2017.  She is currently enrolled in Emerson’s MFA in Theatre Education program and is expected to complete the program in the spring of 2020.
